Galadriel & Uglúk: Battle Profile

Last time, we looked at how the Enchanter Gandalf compared with the sneaky Striker, Gollum. Today, we’ll take a look at two other Guardians whose playstyles are very different, but whose abilities are exceptionally powerful – like Galadriel, whose passive Ability can make her incredibly tough to take down late in a match. You’d be foolish to underestimate either Galadriel or Uglúk, but which Guardian wilyoul you want to play as? Read on to make up your mind.
Tall, and radiantly beautiful, with long golden hair, Galadriel rules an enchanted kingdom with her husband Lord Celeborn from the city of Caras Galadhon deep in the heart of the forest of Lothlórien. Galadriel’s wisdom and experience are as celebrated as her unearthly appearance. Galadriel is also wiser than all but a handful of beings in Middle-earth, and was instrumental in the formation of the White Council, a group of powerful and sage Elves and Wizards led by Saruman the White. The Council’s purpose was to counter the threat posed by Sauron’s growing power in Mirkwood and later Mordor.
Though kindly and reserved, when she speaks in her deep voice, those in her presence would be wise to heed her lest her terrible wrath rise above the calm surface. For Galadriel commands Nenya, the Ring of Adamant, one of the powerful (and uncorrupted) Rings of Power forged long ago. Its great power allows her to protect her realm from outside threats, and slow time within the forest’s boundaries. Among her possessions is a Phial that contains the light of Eärendil, which would serve as a light in dark places, and a mirror that carries portents of the future – small glimpses of her incredible powers.
Just as Galadriel is just, wise, and glorious, Uglúk is base, crude, and bloodthirsty. But he and Galadriel have something in common – they both have a relationship to Saruman. While Galadriel trusted Saruman’s great wisdom, after his greed for the One Ring corrupted him he raised an army of Uruk-hai, of which Uglúk is one. Uglúk serves the White Hand of Saruman with single-mindedness, seeking to destroy Saruman’s enemies and help the fallen Wizard secure the One Ring for himself.
To help ensure that he has every unfair advantage in battle, Uglúk has gained expertise in concocting foul Orcish draughts with unwholesome effects. His imposing size gives him great strength, allowing him to crack his whip with breakneck ferocity, yet he is also very fast. Credit Saruman’s desire for fast-marching shock troops for Uglúk’s speed – meaning he’s often in position to take down enemies caught unaware.
What happens when Uglúk and Galadriel find themselves going head-to-head? That all depends on you. Who will you command? Read more about Guardians of Middle-earth at the official website, and find us on Facebook and Twitter.
